Kids toys. There are so many different kinds of toys out there that the possibilities seem endless! But when it comes to holidays and birthdays, that's not always a good thing. I can't tell you how many hours I have spent SEARCHING for the best quality, highest rated, top educational toys for my 2 year old son. Let me just throw this out there, I LOVE to online shop. I love all the deals, there's something about finding a steal of a deal that you can't pass up and feeling on top of the world for saving money. Plus sometimes it's nice to shop in your PJ's and sip coffee on the couch. I'm all for avoiding having to get all dressed up and throw on some makeup to run to the store and have to wait in those long holiday lines.
I've made a list of some of the best toys that we have right here in our home, that we totally love!

An easel! YES. This is definitely a must for a toddler. When Owen's 2nd birthday was coming up, this was the number one item on his gift list. And guess what, he LOVES IT. He has spent countless hours drawing on his easel and learning how to write the alphabet. It's perfect because once he learned how to erase the board and start fresh, he wouldn't put down the chalk! This is the exact one we have in our home, it's a chalkboard on one side and a dry erase on the other side, so you can easily switch it up and have some fun teaching your child to draw and write! Amazon, baby!
HOLY. COW. Guys. This Reusable sticker pad has saved our lives. Literally. On the hardest days of parenting, and you feel like you just can't do life that day, whip out this sticker pad and let your littles go nuts. I'm not kidding, my sister sent my son one of these for Christmas last year and we now have 3 of them. You can't go wrong with a $5 REUSABLE sticker pad. I had the idea of letting Owen stick them on our sliding door windows, and it's seriously kept him busy for hours at a time (Not much will do that at this age). This will be one thing we continuously buy for future kids, it's a blast to watch them go crazy with these fun stickers! My son currently has these all over the windows in his bedroom and it's also helped him learn animal names, colors, shapes, vehicles, and all sorts of things.
Living in Oregon, we get pretty decent temps during the summer (usually), and this past summer it got over 105 on some days. That's hot for us west coasters! So one day I decided to go to Toys R Us and purchase this exact water table for Owen. We live in an apartment, and we can't always be at the pool. So this was a great idea for those diaper-only days. Throw a few towels on the floor in the kitchen and fill this bad boy up with water. I tossed in Owen's bath toys and it worked perfectly. He is entertained for a good hour every time we bring the water table out to play! This is also a PERFECT toy to have in your yard on hot days. Fill it with hose water and you don't even need to worry about a mess! (Even though indoors is a lot of fun too, you do have to clean up the spilled water afterwards!) One of the best summer purchases we've made, and I still get this table out for Owen even during winter and fall.
Okay, this is one of my favorite toys that we've bought for Owen so far. He got it for his 2nd birthday and it's one of his most used toys now. He loves that it has a special stool just for him, and you can purchase individual sheets with various learning activities on each one. We got a sheet that has all of the body parts on it and within a few weeks, he learned where each body part is and what they are called. It's amazing how little brains soak up knowledge like a sponge! He'll definitely be getting some new activity sheets in his stocking this year :)
This tunnel/tent is awesome!! It separates so you can have just the tunnel out for play or just the tent. It all folds up nicely and you can stick it in a closet for storage. It takes up a bit of room but for how much fun it is, it's so worth it! Sometimes we'll leave the tent portion up for a few days and then switch it for the tunnel so it seems brand new all over again to Owen. He loves throwing his collection of balls through the tunnel. And if you have glow in the dark or flashing balls, they're pretty fun to toss through there as well.
My dad bought these for Owen for his 1st birthday, and I love how unique they are! They have a brush-like texture and they stack so easily. We have spent many hours building cool structures with these blocks. I like the modern colors and how they don't look like the normal children's blocks. So fun!
Love, love, loveeeee these! I ordered these off of Amazon around Owen's 1st birthday to get him started early on his shapes and color development. And I ended up ordering another box of animals, and one of numbers. Each card has a different texture on the front which helps engage your child in learning. They have such bright pretty colors on the cards and on the back has questions you can ask your child about the card. They have certainly helped Owen learn shapes, colors, numbers, animals and names of items. I HIGHLY recommend them if you are wanting to buy flash cards for your kids. Owen is 2.5 and still loves sorting through the cards and now he can name each one.
There you go! If you're stuck in a rut about what to buy for a toddler, check these out! It can be hard finding something that they can interact with and stay interested. So far with my 2 year old, these are the main toys that have helped tremendously on his learning curve and he still enjoys them all! Good luck shopping! :)
